Over the years, I have been involved in a number of charitable organizations; World Wildlife Fund, The Nature Conservancy, and my most proud The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Breast cancer touched my life suddenly at a young age, and I knew as a leader, I wanted to be part of change. For three years, I walked over 180km and was successful at raising over $6500 for breast cancer. I organized euchre tournaments, golf tournaments, garage sales, pub nights and many other social events to help raise money for my cause. Walking in the Weekend to End Breast Cancer allowed me to meet so many amazing people who touched my life in ways I could never imagine. I continue to be part of an annual Christmas Concert through the Toronto Symphony Orchestra that benefits the Nature Conservancy and volunteer as much as possible distributing information about the World Wildlife Fund.
My experience with these organization has allowed me to teach and inspire others to help give back. My hope as a teacher will be to motivate and encourage my students to help others by being creative with new ideas in order to make a difference.
