Education

Cardinal Carter Academy for the Arts

My love for Drama came at an early age and thus, my supportive parents encouraged me to audition for entrance into the prestigious Dramatic Arts program at Cardinal Carter Academy. I was successful with my audition and spent 5 incredible years growing as an artist and a young adult at Cardinal Carter. This school allowed me the experience to express myself in ways any high school student normally would not feel comfortable with, all while becoming the confident, knowledgeable, capable, strong person I am today.

Ryerson University

I attended Ryerson University where I was successful at completing a Bachelors Degree as well as a double minor. While at Ryerson, I was heavily involved with my Geographic Analysis student union. In my first and second year I acted as representative; during my third year I was social representative and in my final year I was elected as President. During my time at Ryerson, I was also a peer helper as well as first year mentor. During my third year, I was presented with both the Paul Commisso Memorial Award as well as the Dennis Mock Leadership Award for my involvement with various aspects of our program. In my final year, I was given the Alumni Award and honoured in an award ceremony in front of my peers.

University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT)

Teacher’s College was something I knew I always wanted to do; it was simply a matter of deciding which school to go to. I chose UOIT because of the strong focus on technology in the classroom. Technology is something I always saw to be extremely president in education and UOIT confirmed that. I mastered the use and application of the smart board in the classroom with a strong focus in literacy and numeracy. I also gained a deep understand of various educational software programs applicable to many different student’s levels and needs. UOIT was absolutely the right choice for me in order to gain further confidence and knowledge to become the teacher I always saw myself being.

Additional Qualifications (AQ) – Queens and York University

Special Education; Part 1:
During my teaching practicum I was able to experience some time in a special education classroom. Here I quickly learned how important it was for teachers to specialize certain aspects of the curriculum in order to help students achieve success at their full potential. I took this AQ course to further expand my ability to adapt and modify lessons for various learning abilities.

Dramatic Arts
Being so closely connected with the arts, both through my own personal passion and experiences, I decided to take a dramatic arts additional qualification. By taking this I further developed skills that I believe will help me share and express my enthusiasm for the arts with any student that I work with. My hopes are to direct many school musicals so students will grow up with some of the magical memories I found to be unforgettable.
